Mission Statement
AlphaAbacus was established by Rachel Phillips M.A. Education in 2003 to provide individualized learning programs using state-of-the-art materials and research-based teaching strategies.
Students attending AlphaAbacus discover that no academic problem or study skill is too big to receive help. Student learning is fostered by utilizing the individual student's learning style within a safe and harmonious atmosphere. The necessary trust between tutor and student is developed through a compassionate approach to all challenges a student may face.
By strategically focusing upon a student's skills, strengths and interests in every session, the student is inspired to be their best self and produce their best work. The resultant lack of academic anxiety produces enjoyable, relaxed concentration, which is the optimal state for learning. When a student improves his or her reading, this is reflected in every area of the curriculum. When this occurs on a regular basis, the student starts to develop as a lifelong learner.
